Introduction

Generally, I'm not much of a fan of closed, proprietary technology like flash and actionscript. There are tools freely available for both of these technologies so you can do development on, for instance, Linux (which I've done here); but that's a minor gain in the long-term.

So why am I doing actionscript then?
For a while I was really into the indie gaming / game dev scene, of which flash plays a pretty prominent role. In particular, Flixel is an actionscript engine I was interested in toying with. Additionally, I recently accepted a short-term contract doing front-end work at Electronic Arts, and I know they use actionscript from my previous experience there. Besides that, I'm curious and like to try things just for the challenge.
